Automated RSS News Digest for Trello

Manually tracking multiple RSS feeds for relevant updates is a time-consuming challenge for many teams. This n8n workflow automates the aggregation, filtering, and distribution of critical news, ensuring your team receives concise and actionable insights directly to Trello, saving significant manual effort.

Key Features

  • Effortless News Aggregation: Automatically pulls the latest articles from up to three (and easily expandable to more) RSS feeds, centralizing diverse content sources.
  • Smart Content Filtering: Automatically filters articles to ensure only the most recent and relevant posts (defaulting to the last 7 days) are included in your digest.
  • Prioritized Information Delivery: Sorts all filtered news items by publication date in descending order, presenting the most current information first.
  • Readability-Optimized Formatting: Converts aggregated news into a clean, easy-to-read Markdown format, ideal for Trello comments.
  • Automated Team Updates: Publishes the curated news digest directly as a comment to a specified Trello card and sends a verification email to a designated reviewer, streamlining team communication.

How It Works

This workflow is activated by a schedule trigger, typically running weekly (customizable). Upon activation, it simultaneously fetches data from all configured RSS feeds. The collected articles are then processed to extract key details like title, content snippet, link, and publication date. A crucial filtering step ensures that only articles published within the last seven days are retained. These fresh articles are then sorted from newest to oldest and limited to a configurable number (default 10) to maintain conciseness. Finally, the selected articles are transformed into a structured Markdown format, which is then published as a new comment on a specified Trello card. An email notification is sent to a designated recipient to confirm the update and prompt a review.
